A Massachusetts teenager who publicly shamed her mother for participating in the Capitol uprising said the MAGA movement brainwashed her mother and lied to her. She told her daughter that she was going to see a doctor out of town.

Helena Duke, 18, went viral Thursday after she tweeted a video of a woman who was slapped during President Trump’s violent protests in Washington, DC on Wednesday, titled “Hey Mom, remember the time I got it. You said, don’t go to the BLM rallies because they could get violent … you what? ”

In the clip, a white woman, a black woman who appears to be dressed in a police uniform, tries to grab a phone before she slaps him.

Duke followed the tweet with another post in which she compared a photo of the bloody-faced woman in the video to a photo of her mother and said, “For those who don’t believe this is my mother …”

The teenager, whose first tweet was retweeted more than 66,000 times, told the Post that she learned of her mother’s role in the violent riot only after viewing images online.

She said her mother, who was identified as Therese Duke by Newsweek, told her that she would be out of town for three days to take her aunt for medical intervention.

“She didn’t give me any more information about it, it was very vague … When I found out that the Capitol had been robbed, I saw her release the position and he had been away for two days, so at that time I thought he had said” OMG, it could really be there, “Duke told the Post.

Duke Feelings

Duke admitted that she initially had mixed feelings about seeing her mother on social media because she knew she could lead to her arrest, but she ultimately decided to leave because her mother had her. she had already evicted him from her house. because she participated in a protest against Black Lives Matter.

“He was a little shaken at first, but I think it was very hypocritical of him to kick me out of the house for participating in peaceful protests, assuming they were violent, and then it was obvious. A very violent attack on the Capitol and finally. He harassed a police, “he said.

However, the teenager told the Post that he did not believe his mother was among those who had crossed Capitol Hill.
