British singer, model and actress Sarah Harding, who had 21 UK top 10 singles as a member of Girls Aloud, has died at the age of 39. Her mother Marie went to Harding’s Instagram to announce the sad news.

“It is with deep heartbreak that I announce today that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away,” she wrote on Sunday, September 5th. “She got away peacefully this morning. I would like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know that she was loved … She was a bright shining star and I hope that she can be remembered that way instead. ”

How did Sarah Harding die?

As she announced her death, Harding’s mother wrote, “Many of you will know about Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so hard from her diagnosis to her last day,” adding, “I know she didn’t would like to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease. ”

In August 2020, the singer announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to other parts of her body. The diagnosis, she said, came earlier this year. “I currently do weekly chemotherapy sessions and fight as hard as possible,” she said at the time.

The singer, who was born in Ascot, Berkshire, at the time thanked NHS staff, family and friends for their support, adding that she is “trying to stay positive.” She also said that she decided to make her diagnosis public after being examined in a hospital.

The statement she made at the time said, “I think now is the right time to share what’s going on. There is no easy way to say this, and in fact it doesn’t even feel right to write this, but here it goes. I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and a few weeks ago I received devastating news that the cancer had spread to other parts of my body. ”

She also said, “I currently do weekly chemotherapy sessions and fight as hard as I can. I understand it might be shocking to read this on social media and I really don’t mean to … My great mom, family and close friends are helping me with this, and I want to thank the wonderful NHS doctors and nurses the heroes were and will remain. I do my best to stay positive and will keep you posted on my progress here. In the meantime, I hope that you all understand and respect my request for privacy at this difficult time. ”

Later in December, Harding announced to her fans, “Hello everyone. Thank you for all the love and support messages I’ve received since my last post. Everyone was so nice and reading your comments and DMs has been a great source of strength for me. I can’t deny that things are tough right now, but I’m fighting as hard as possible and as brave as I can. “
