A man who s*xually assaulted ten women and two girls for two days for being “angry” with them for wearing lycra has been detained for three years.

Oliver Smith, 27, cycled to meet his victims while jogging or walking and grabbed his butt before leaving.

The crimes took place in the Swansea area on February 12 and 13 this year – eight of the attacks took place in just four hours.

Swansea Crown Court heard there were a total of 18 victims, aged 12 to 45, including a woman who had been assaulted twice and others who were with her children.

Dean Pulling, the prosecutor, told the court that Smith wore a black gown with a hood over his head while committing the crimes.

She said: “This weekend’s attacks received extensive media coverage and these s*xual attacks in public places, apparently random attacks on women and girls, generated fear and anger. widespread among the women of Swansea. ”

Arrested after a police operation after being recognized by an old school friend, Smith admitted his crimes.

Mr Pulling added: “He told police he was angry with women wearing spandex.

“He said he targeted women who wore short jackets and whose buttocks were visible. He didn’t think it was good for men to see him.

“She said she felt bad to see some of her victims cry and that all women were drawn to seducing men.”

Smith told police he carried out his first attack in December last year and believed he assaulted around 15 women.

Smith Admitted

He admitted 10 counts of s*xual assault by contact, one count of bodily harm for touching a child under 13 and one count of attempted s*xual assault.

Smith of Swansea also called for seven other tactile sex offenders who should be factored into the conviction.

He added that Smith “had very strange ideas about how women should dress in public.”

Judge Guy Walters jailed Smith for three years and put him on the S*x Offender Registry for Life and issued a permanent order to prevent sexual assault.

She said: “It really should be described as a campaign of s*xual abuse which at the time sparked widespread terrorism among women in and around Swansea.

“Many talk about the feeling of pain that you attacked them in this way. Some have described profound effects that continue to this day. ”

Detective Inspector Gareth Jones said: “Oliver Smith’s insult has caused a lot of fear and anguish to his victims, and I hope this belief brings them some comfort and shows the gravity of their actions. . “
