Man with a “body number” tattoo on his face that would mark the number of murders he has committed was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a murder in 2019.
Jonathan Lowrey, 27, of Blue Springs, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in February during the March 28, 2019 shooting of Joseph Corum in Kansas City. All the sentences will be carried out at the same time, prosecutors said.
A witness told authorities he heard Corum yelling at someone outside his home before hearing “a noisy vehicle” and a gunshot. He heard another gunshot and the vehicle drove away, authorities said.
Another witness said he heard fighting and saw a man identified as Lowrey pull a long pistol out of a vehicle and shoot Corum three times before walking away.
Investigators obtained video surveillance from another witness showing Lowrey sitting in the vehicle. The witness said he had five pointing marks under his right eye. Lowrey allegedly claimed the signals were a “body count.”
He was arrested a few weeks after the murder. A detective said Lowrey had six marks on his face when questioned by police.
DNA evidence from projectiles recovered from the crime scene matches that of Lowrey, police said.
