Kenosha police said they were called to a home near 46th and Sheridan streets around 4:30 am Wednesday “to investigate a possible s*x crime.” Officers found evidence of a fight and two adults were found dead in the home.
Kenosha District Attorney Michael Graveley told police Medrano had brought a machete “to prevent someone from stopping the attack on him.” The victims who were stabbed were cut with machetes while trying to stop the attack, Graveley said, and bled to death when he was locked in a room.
Medrano then started to walk, but was intercepted by nearby police “machete in hand,” Graveley said, “covered in blood.” He was arrested after Graveley said he tried to get police to shoot him.
Charges Against Medrano
Medrano, 24, is charged with two first degree premeditated murders. attempted s*xual assault in the first degree; physical abuse of a child that intentionally causes physical harm. He was taken into custody Thursday on $ 2.5 million bond. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 15.
Kenosha News reports that Medrano allegedly stabbed and hacked to death his father and stepmother after trying to prevent him from s*xually assaulting a child who lived in the home. According to the criminal complaint, Medrano lived in the house with his father and his stepmother, a mixed family that included a 15-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl and Medranos. 6 year old girl.
The complaint says Medrano confessed to police that he had sexual thoughts about one of his young parents and entered his room that night to sexually assault him and bring him a sock. He would suffocate her and a machete that he would use if his father tried to stop him, reports Kenosha News. The children tried calling 911 but failed. The three older children climbed out the window and went to a neighbor’s house for help. That neighbor called 911.
“The evidence in this case is extremely strong. There is not just one confession, but several eyewitnesses, including traumatized children who see many acts and the intended survivor of sexual assault who will bear those scars. Obviously for life, “said Kenosha District Attorney Michael Graveley.
