As reported by Fox 5 DC, acting Metro Police Chief Robert J. Contee III said at a press conference on Tuesday evening that a city police officer committed suicide a week after the January 6 mob riot. died as Officer Jeffrey Smith, who had worked for the Metro Police Department for 12 years.
Officer Smith reportedly died on January 15th.
