But at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, the charges were dropped at the request of Victoria’s chief prosecutor, Kerri Judd QC.

Ms. Giovanni was released on bail and is now free.
The speaker and author was born in Eritrea, Africa, and sought asylum in Europe before moving to Melbourne.
In her autobiography Challenge Your Destiny, Ms Giovanni described her childhood in this war-torn country, including her experiences as a child soldier, in an arranged marriage, and as a refugee.
Ms Giovanni shared the news of her baby’s death on social media.
“With our deepest sorrow and excruciating pain, we inform you of the passing of our beautiful little angel Illen Joy Bellinger,” he wrote last year.
“In the seven and a half months that we have had the pleasure of being with her, a shining star has been sent to inspire, transform and transform our lives.”
In a statement, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor said the decision was made after “careful consideration and consultation” with chief prosecutor Brendan Kissane QC and a senior prosecutor.
