Visalia police confirmed she was not breathing when they found three-year-old Jessica Campos. She stayed in the car for over three hours. By this point the temperature in the car had risen to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
The three-year-old’s mother was reportedly busy tending her cannabis farm. Officials suspected the baby had suffocated from being too hot in the car and unable to breathe. It turned out that the officer trying to resuscitate the toddler answered an unrelated call nearby. He took the baby from the relatives to continue CPR.
Who is Eustajia Mojica Dominguez?
Eustajia Mojica Dominguez is the mother of the three-year-old girl who died in California. An arrest for negligent homicide was announced in a statement from the Visalia Police Department on their official Facebook page. Dominguez is the owner of a cannabis farm where the police have seized 70 mature marijuana plants and 80 immature marijuana plants. They also found 475 pounds of processed marijuana at the residence.
The official statement from the police said: “On June 3, 2021 at 5:47 pm, officers and rescue workers were dispatched to Block 100 of W. Perez in relation to a 3-year-old who was later identified as Jessica Campos breathe after being left in a parked vehicle for an extended period of time. One officer had an independent call to the apartment and was there in seconds Jessica. ”
The statement goes on to say: “Based on testimony from detectives, it is believed that Jessica was left in the vehicle for 2½ to 3 hours before she was discovered. The outside temperature was set to at least 100 degrees at the time of the crime. The testimony obtained showed that Jessica’s mother, Eustajia Mojica Dominguez, had grown and processed marijuana during the time the child was left in the vehicle. ”
Regarding the charges Dominguez would face, the statement read: “Eustajia Dominguez Mojica was tried in the Tulare County Pretrial Facility for 192 (b) PCs, involuntary manslaughter and 273a (a) PC, child endangerment, in the Pretrial Facility of the Tulare County booked marijuana is recommended to the Tulare County District Attorney against all adult suspects. ”
Jessica was pronounced dead at the Kaweah Health Medical Center, where she was taken after the incident.
Authorities also announced that four other children were found at the residence – a 15-year-old, an 11-year-old and two 9-month-old babies. All children were handed over to the youth welfare office. Police also confirmed that there were four other adult residents. They have been identified as Araceli Mojica, 33, Emmanuel Ortiz-Aguilar, 34, Valentin Aguilar Ortiz, 27, and Victor Flores Corona, 41. These four adults could also face potential marijuana-related drug charges.
