A court judge said Thursday that Andrade was suffering from auditory hallucinations at the time of the stab wounds, but two critics concluded his condition “did not lead to the defense of insanity.” The judge said both victims continued to suffer from their injuries.
“The two victims … underline the fear (of Andrade) and what they told the police is that they were still traumatized by the incident”, declared Lourdes Lucas, judge of the Court. Supreme County of Monmouth.
Four days after the stabbing, police learned that Andrade was staying at a house on Ludlow Avenue, where he had lived. When they got home, Andrade had barricaded himself in the basement wall and had food and water with him.
A clash between Andrade and the police lasted for several hours when several authorities and tactical police officers jumped on the house with guns.
As part of his plea deal, prosecutors dropped a number of charges against Andrade, including attempted murder, armed robbery and gun crime.
