A man has been charged with the murder of a woman who disappeared ten years ago, police said.

Darren Osment, 40, will appear in Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with the killing of Claire Holland, 32.

Ms Holland, from the Lawrence Weston area of ​​Bristol, was last seen leaving the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub in the city center at 11.15pm on June 6, 2012, the day after the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend. .

She was reported missing a few days later and has not been seen or heard from since, despite numerous mass searches and pleas for information.

Avon and Somerset Police said Osment, of Chessel Drive, Patchway, South Gloucestershire, was jailed.

Detective Superintendent Gary Haskins, Major Crimes Investigation Team Leader, said: “This is a pivotal moment in our investigation and we have notified Claire’s family after a man was charged with his murder.

“We will continue to support them through our specialist family liaison officer.”

Ben Samples, Chief District Attorney for CPS South West’s Complex Cases Unit, added: “Crown prosecutors have cleared Avon and Somerset Police to charge Darren Osment with murder.

“The indictment follows a complex investigation by the Major Crimes Investigation Team, assisted by the Complex Cases Unit.

“A thorough review of all the evidence collected has led us to the conclusion that our legal tests to bring a prosecution have been successful.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that Darren Osment faces criminal charges and is entitled to a fair trial.

“It is extremely important that there are no reports, comments or sharing of information online that could in any way affect this process.”

On the 10th anniversary of her death earlier this year, new CCTV footage has emerged to track Ms Holland’s final movements.

She was described as white, about 5 feet tall, short in stature with shoulder-length brown hair that was often tied back in a ponytail.

She was last seen in black pants, a black short-sleeved top, and a gray t-shirt underneath.

He was also carrying a cream-coloured Primark reusable tote bag.
