“Christopher Weeley’s murderous acts of violence changed a Delaware County family forever,” said US Attorney Clint Johnson. “My thoughts are with the surviving victim who is struggling to recover from the shooting and all family as this case progresses through the justice system. I encourage any family experiencing abuse to enlist the help of law enforcement and victim services who can provide safety information and resources.”
“Inscrutable assaults by members of the Weeley family are not something a family should experience,” said Ed Gray, FBI special agent in charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office. “We hope you find comfort in knowing that this heinous crime will not go unpunished and that the FBI, along with our partners, will continue to work tirelessly to maintain security and order in our communities.”
On March 6, 2021, a Delaware County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a home in Jay. During the drive, he received a radio call informing him that there were reports of gunfire at the house, with two possible victims. When he arrived at 11:17pm. M., found Annie Marie Weeley injured and drugged on the floor and a second family member on the couch with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and lower back.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the mother was pronounced dead. The second victim underwent emergency surgery.
Christopher Weeley was seen about an hour later getting out of a black sedan. Weeley refused to comply with MPs’ orders and resisted arrest. Eventually he was overpowered and taken into custody. During an interview with police, Weeley told investigators the location of the .22 caliber revolver used in the incident, and officers recovered the firearm.
The FBI and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant US Attorney Ryan M. Roberts is prosecuting the case.
