Torres took the woman and her 7-year-old son to a motel in the Bronx on Oct. 5, 2020, where he slapped the baby across the face and attacked the woman with such force that he broke her jaw, the officials said. prosecutors.

Torres then held the injured couple against his will in an apartment in Washington Heights for the next five days before they managed to escape, authorities said.

Before the kidnapping, Torres bombarded the woman with hundreds of phone calls and messages threatening to “pull out her son’s teeth,” prosecutors said.

During the beating, Torres again threatened to hang his girlfriend and find his son dead in a river, prosecutors said.

And after they ran away from her, Torres continued to tirelessly text the woman and call her to tell her that he would come for her. In fact, he tried to find her, the prosecutor said.

Torres was arrested in November and a criminal complaint alleged that Torres also raped the woman at least once during the kidnapping. Torres committed these horrible acts because he was upset when he found out that his girlfriend was having an affair with another man, the complaint read.

“Aquilino Torres threatened to kill a seven-year-old boy by brutally abducting the boy and his mother,” said US attorney Audrey Strauss in Manhattan. “Torres then held his victims prisoner and abused the mother and child.”

The victim’s attorney, Sarah Aberg, told the Post by email that her client “is relieved and grateful for all the hard work that the verdict entails.”

Torres’ defenders did not immediately respond with a request for comment.
